GIVE PEACE A PLACE IN COLOMBIA
Why is this campaign an LWR advocacy priority?
Luis Gilberto Murillo, US/Colombia Advocacy Coordinator
Colombia is a land of lush jungles, towering mountains and incredible cultural diversity that also houses the worst humanitarian crisis in the western hemisphere. Children, women and entire communities-totaling more than 3 million people-have been violently forced from their homes and now live as refugees within their own nation. Former Colombian state Governor Luis Gilberto Murillo Uruetta-now serving as Lutheran World Relief's Colombia Policy Coordinator-knows both the impressionable beauty and the devastating violence that are held in tension within Colombia. Mr. Murillo will share his deep knowledge of Colombia with particular emphasis on the situation of internally displaced persons and the impact of the current U.S. drug eradication and counter-insurgency policies on the people of Colombia . Learn about the human side of this conflict-and find out what you can do to promote peace in Colombia . Questions for Luis and other discussion are invited now at the web forum, www.lwr.org/forum.
