Lutheran World Relief is offering 10 registration scholarships for the 2008 Ecumenical Advocacy Days conference March 7-10 in Washington, D.C. More than 1,000 people from the Christian community will gather to hear speakers and participate in workshops around the theme “Claiming a True Vision for Security.”
Conference participants will receive training from experts on how to carry out advocacy on a wide variety of U.S. domestic and international policies. At the end of the conference, participants will have the opportunity to use the knowledge and skills they have gained when they visit with members of Congress.
To receive the application, visit lwr.org/advocacy or contact Lutheran World Relief Public Policy and Advocacy via email at advocacy@lwr.org. Application forms are due by Monday, January 25. LWR will notify scholarship winners no later than Friday, February 1. Each scholarship only covers the cost of registration; scholarship winners will be responsible for all travel, lodging and food costs associated with the conference.
Speakers at this year’s Ecumenical Advocacy Days include Rev Dr. Mark A. Lomax, pastor of the First African Presbyterian Church; Dr. Lisa Schirch, professor of peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University; and Archbishop Vicken Aykazian, President Elect of the National Council of Churches.
