Volunteer Opportunities with LWR
Thanks to faithful efforts of over 2500 local parish groups, LWR provides people in need with tons of quilts, clothing, soap, layettes, and school, health and sewing kits. Learn more about these and other ways U.S. efforts support LWR by exploring the "Be Involved" section of LWR's website. You may also request the brochure "Be Involved" by calling 1-800-LWR-LWR-2."
Lutheran Volunteer Corps
Since 2003, Lutheran Volunteers have been placed with Lutheran World Relief. LWR is proud to announce that two Lutheran Volunteers are currently serving in LWR's headquarters for 2006-2007, one is working on LWR's fair trade projects and the other is working on projects to involve LWR's US supporters with LWR's work.
Volunteer Opportunities Abroad
Lutheran World Relief employs a very limited number of U.S. workers overseas. LWR supports grassroots organizations staffed with local leaders who know their communities' needs and strengths. However, the two church bodies which support LWR, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod (LCMS), have employment and/or volunteer programs abroad. You may find more about service opportunities with the church bodies by visiting the websites of the ELCA Global Mission or the LCMS World Mission.
