Voices Heard - Proper legal documentation helps indigenous Bolivians participate in their state and local governments.

In the U.S. participating in the democratic process is one of our most basic rights. In Bolivia, lack of legal documentation is prevalent among indigenous people, making them unable to vote, legally work, receive state benefits, marry or pass their land on to their children. Without proper identification, people are not able to participate in the decisions that affect their communities, themselves and their children.
