In the U.S. participating in the democratic process is one of our most basic rights. In Bolivia, lack of legal documentation is prevalent among indigenous people, making them unable to vote, legally work, receive state benefits, marry or pass their land on to their children. Without proper identification, people are not able to participate in the decisions that affect their communities, themselves and their children.
Jesus tells us to visit those in prison to show his love and grace. The Emanuel Lutheran Church Comfort Quilters of Marion, Ohio take that mandate one step further by engaging the inmates at the North Central Correctional Institution in global service.
