In the tiny country of Sierra Leone in West Africa, more than 70 percent of the population lives below the poverty line. And mothers face one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world. But LWR continues to provide the people of Sierra Leone a voice of hope, comfort and faith. On May 13, LWR hosted the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sierra Leone, Rev. Thomas J. Barnett, who offered thanks to the thousands of Lutherans who work all year to assemble quilts and kits for communities in need in Sierra Leone and around the world.
Once suppressed, a group of Dalit women in India are now thriving with the support of their families.
