Why a Co-op?

By pooling their crops and selling directly to international buyers, the 20,000 cocoa farmers of Kuapa Kokoo have stronger representation in the cocoa market. When the cooperative sells its crop to Fair Trade buyers, the farmers receive a fair price, and the cooperative receives a Fair Trade premium that is invested in the farming communities.
