QUILT AND KIT DEDICATION IDEAS

Every quilt and kit that LWR ships overseas is an expression of love and caring by the church groups who made them. That’s something to celebrate!

Many churches have special dedication services to bless the quilts and kits before they are delivered to the LWR warehouse to be shipped overseas. Below, you’ll find some of the ideas that have been shared with us for these dedications – and we would love to hear yours! Tell us about it by e-mailing lwr@lwr.org. Photos are always appreciated!

  • Drape the church pews with the colorful quilts or hang school kits on the ends of the pews. Ask worshippers to lay their hands on a quilt or school kit as a prayer of blessing is spoken.

  • Set up a quilting demonstration and invite members to try their hand at tying a knot or sewing a seam.

  • Ask a creative church member to write a poem or song about putting faith into action by quilting or assembling kits. Click here to see some of the ideas that have been shared with us!

  • Involve the children of the church in the dedication service by asking them to write a poem or perform a skit about how quilts and other items are used to help the recipients overseas.

  • Invite an LWR Ambassador to give a presentation during the Sunday school hour, or to offer the sermon for the day.

  • Invite members to view Ordinary to Extraordinary, LWR’s video about quilts and kits. You can order this video here.

  • Use your quilt and kit dedication service as a time to invite support for LWR’s Project Comfort Fund.
