Let Us Dance to The Lord with Praise
Look closely at the picture above. Can these kids dance! If King David danced "with all his might before the Lord," so do these young people. Notice the colorful red, orange and yellow skirts on the young women. Their yellow tops. The long white gowns on the young women on the right. The long white linen gowns on the young men dancers, looking just like the linen ephods from the time of King David. Notice the clapping hands, smiling faces and spirits filled with the Holy Spirit.
By looking at the above picture, you would never guess that you are in an orphanage and that sixty percent of these students have lost both their mother and father. You would never guess that you are in the middle of a vocational school with its concrete, carpentry and cattle. God is full of surprises, including the joy and happiness that is found in the middle of a Christian community such as this one. These young people are all devout Christians but still rhythmically dance like you have never seen before. You can feel their amazing energy.
These kids are singing a wonderful song, clapping their hands, and moving their bodies. Their words are captivating, words of a refrain that they sang over and over: "We have decided, to put our hands together." This orphanage and vocational school are powerful examples of what miracles can happen when people decide to "put our hands together." When we (churches, schools, government, media, hospitals, development agencies) decide to put our hands together, good things occur. One hand is powerful; but many hands together create the miracles of God.
LET US PRAY: Dear Jesus. Fill me with your joy in living. Let your happiness radiate within me so that my hands will clap to your rhythms of life. As I move through the paces of my daily existence, let my hands clap for joy and grasp other hands in order to build your kingdom. In Jesus Name.
