Pastor Lucy At An Orphanage Near Nairobi
Sometimes our offerings seem so meager, but God can take our simple offerings and multiply them to do grand things such as feeding 5,000 people -with five loaves and two fish! God does similar "miraculous multiplications" all the time, taking our simple gifts and working mighty miracles.
Look carefully at the woman and the little girl at the left. Both of their lives reveal great stories of how God can do great things through common, ordinary people. ... What do you see? A woman. A girl. Both are nicely dressed. Both have shoes. Both are clean. In the background, the building is made out of wood, not mud. The roof is made out of tin, not thatch. These both are signs of development. In the foreground is a step made out of concrete, another sign of development.
The name of this orphanage is Peace Humanitarian Christian Center International (PEHUCCI). It is a children's academy and orphanage located on the outskirts of Nairobi and serves a slum population. Education and skills training can assist in breaking the cycle of poverty and deprivation for these children, and the people at PEHUCCI are carrying out their dream of making a difference in children's lives.
This school and orphanage were started in 1992 by the person pictured above, the Rev. Lucy Njenga who donated her simple one-fourth of an acre lot and her meager pension program from teaching. She began with 32 orphans (18 girls and 14 boys) but these numbers have multiplied and now there are 750 children in the school, 70 of them orphans who live in the dormitories. The school has eleven teachers. Yes, God is still multiplying the resources.
LET US PRAY: Dear Lord, we thank you for your abundant miracles that are in front of our eyes every day. We thank you that you can take the paucity of our gifts and do wonders with them. We thank you that you multiply our gifts and work mighty miracles with them. In Jesus Name.
